Arkansas 28 #3 Tennessee 24

November 13, 1999In a script befitting only Hollywood, UA quarterback Clint Stoerner and wide receiver Anthony Lucas paired up for one of the most memorable touchdown passing touchdowns in school history as the Razorbacks upset defending national champions and No. 3 Tennessee, 28-24. In 1998, the teams met in Tennessee with both teams boasting an 8-0 record. The top-ranked Vols looked to be on the ropes before Stoerner tripped and fumbled with less than two minutes to play. As the two teams gathered for the rematch, few could predict the battle would reach the heights of its predecessor. The Volunteers held a 24-21 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Arkansas started a drive on its own 20-yard line before and had reached the Volunteers’ 23-yard line. With just under four minutes, the Razorbacks called a double-post pass. Lucas had one-on-one coverage and the senior quickly built a seam deep down the middle of the field. Stoerner faked a handoff to Cedric Cobbs, stood tall in the pocket and delivered a perfect pass to Lucas in the end zone for the game winner. Arkansas fans stormed the field for the first time since 1981 and the goalposts came down in Fayetteville.
