Player of the Week Nominee:James McCann – C- 6-3 – 210 – Santa Barbara, Calif.

Notes: Returning to his home state, junior catcher James McCann had a strong weekend at the plate against San Diego State, hitting .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, four RBI and five runs scored … Had at least one hit in each game of the series and posted two hits in three of the four games … Had three extra-base hits in the series, including first home run of the season in series finale, which put the Razorbacks in front 5-0 … Led the team with a 1.000 slugging percentage on the week and a .667 on-base percentage … Also added a stolen base and did not commit an error in the field, catching all 36 innings of the series … For the season, McCann is hitting .367 with a home run and 10 RBI … Has a team-high .446 on-base percentage and has stolen two bases.
Pitcher of the Week Nominee:Cade Lynch – LHP – 6-6 – 230 – Jonesboro, Ark.

Notes:Sophomore lefty Cade Lynch earned his second win of the season on Sunday, throwing six shutout innings with nine strikeouts to clinch a series win for Arkansas at San Diego State … Lynch set new career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts … Along with the nine strikeouts, Lynch only issued one walk … After allowing a leadoff single in the second inning, Lynch retired 11 straight batters, including seven strikeouts in that span … Allowed just one hit after the second inning … For the season, Lynch is 2-0 on the season with a 1.35 ERA … He has struck out a team-high 26 in 20 innings of work and opponents are hitting just .222 against him.
Freshman of the Week Nominee:Dominic Ficociello – INF – 6-4 – 185 – Fullerton, Calif.

Notes: Playing in his home state, freshman infielder Dominic Ficociello continued the strong start to his freshman season, going 9-for-18 (.500) with five doubles, six runs scored and a RBI in the four-game series at San Diego State … Had multiple hits in each of the first three games of the series to extend his hitting streak to nine straight games … Now has seven multiple-hit games on the season … Posted a .778 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage on the week … Scored a career-high four runs in the series opener against the Aztecs … Had five doubles on the week, including two in the first and third games of the series … Also was flawless in the field, handling all six chances without committing an error … Leads Arkansas with a .431 batting average and nine doubles and is second on the team with 20 RBI.
Team Notes: Arkansas enjoyed a successful road trip last weekend, taking three of four games at San Diego State … Arkansas is now 13-2 on the season with one non-conference game to play before Southeastern Conference play begins … The Razorbacks have now won all four weekend series this season, sweeping Delaware State, Utah and Wisconsin-Milwaukee and taking three of four games from San Diego State … Arkansas hit .296 as a team in the four games last week with four home runs, 21 RBI and nine stolen bases … The Razorback pitching staff compiled a 3.53 ERA with 40 strikeouts and held the Aztec batters to just a .231 batting average … Arkansas returns home on Tuesday, hosting Kansas at Baum Stadium with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m. … The Razorbacks open conference play next weekend with a three-game series at Auburn … Game times against the Tigers are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Individual Notes – Hitting: James McCann was the top performer at the plate for Arkansas last week, hitting .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, four RBI and five runs scored … McCann had at least one hit in every game and had two hits in three of the four games … McCann had a 1.000 slugging percentage and also stole a base … Dominic Ficociello also had a strong series at San Diego State, batting .500 (9-for-18) with a RBI, five doubles and six runs scored … Ficociello had a hit in each of the first three games of the series to extend his hitting streak to nine games, before going hitless in the series wrap-up … Bo Bigham (5-for-15) and Tim Carver (4-for-12) each hit .333 on the week, while Matt Vinson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored in the series … Carver was also a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases against the Aztecs … Ficociello leads Arkansas with a .431 batting average on the season to go along with a team-best nine doubles … Ficociello is also second on the squad with 20 RBI … Kyle Robinson is also hitting over .400 on the season, batting .403 with three round-trippers and a team-leading 21 RBI … McCann is hitting .367 on the season with a homer and 10 RBI, while Matt Reynolds is batting .346 with two homers and 10 RBI.
Individual Notes – Pitching: Cade Lynch had the best start of his young Razorback career, throwing six shutout innings with a career-best nine strikeouts to earn the win in Sunday’s series finale at San Diego State … DJ Baxendale continued his scoreless inning streak to start the season on Friday against the Aztecs, throwing five scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn his fourth win of the year … Brandon Moore also had a strong start on Saturday, pitching a career-best seven innings and allowing just one run, while fanning four … Trent Daniel made two scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, throwing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts … Geoffrey Davenport picked up a win in the series opener at SDSU, pitching 5.1 innings of relief and giving up a run on three hits with seven strikeouts … Nolan Sanburn appeared in two games and earned the first save of his collegiate career … Sanburn threw 1.2 scoreless innings in the series with four strikeouts … Zack Hall pitched two shutout innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts … Baxendale has not allowed a run on the season, throwing 19.1 scoreless innings with 21 strikeouts and posting a 4-0 record … Sanburn has pitched 6.1 scoreless innings on the season, while Hall and Colby Suggs have also not given up a run out of the bullpen … Lynch is 2-0 on the year with a 1.35 ERA in five appearances … Lynch has struck out a team-leading 26 batters in 20 innings … Barrett Astin has appeared in a team-high seven games and is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA … Moore also has a 2-0 record with a 3.27 ERA in four starts.
