RQS NEXT WEEK This is the final week for teams to be ranked by their average scores. Next week, the poll changes to RQS or regional qualifying score. Qualification for regional competition is based on a team’s and an all-around competitor’s six best regular-season-meet scores, of which three must be away. To obtain the regional qualifying score (RQS), the high score is eliminated and the remaining five scores are averaged. You’ll notice that some teams have enough meets under their belts (at least six) to have an RQS this week. That number is noted in the far right column in the box on this page.
ABOUT AUBURN Auburn is in the midst of one of its best seasons in recent years. The Tigers are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the SEC but the records are not important. The Tigers have steadily climbed in the rankings and are No. 6 this week averaging 196.175. The Tigers have wins over Illinois-Chicago, Iowa State and LSU but their losses to Alabama and Florida couldn’t have been closer. Auburn also lost at Georgia Sunday.
INDIVIDUAL COMPARISONS This meet really couldn’t be closer. The teams are ranked sixth and seventh and are pretty balanced throughout. This week, Arkansas’ Casey Jo Magee is fifth in the nation as an all-arounder. Auburn’s A.J. Mills and Lindsey Puckett are tied for sixth. Puckett is No. 4 on vault and Arkansas’ top vaulter is Michelle Stout who is No. 14. Magee is No. 14 on bars followed by Mills who is No. 20. Magee ranks No. 9 on beam, while Mills is No. 16. Auburn’s Rachel Inniss is ranked seventh on floor and Arkansas’ Jaime Pisani is No. 16 overall this week.
THE SERIES Arkansas holds a 7-5 series advantage over Auburn. The Tigers beat Arkansas in the first meeting in program history in 2003. Arkansas has won ever regular-season meeting since then.
