FAYETTEVILLE- The Arkansas Razorback softball team welcomes No. 11 Tennessee to Fayetteville for a three game series beginning Friday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at Bogle Park. Arkansas, now 17-7 overall and 1-4 in the SEC, will take on a Tennessee team that is 17-5 overall and 1-2 in the SEC.The Razorbacks are coming off a midweek non-conference matchup with Missouri where they fell 4-0 to the No. 12 team in the country.The Lady Vols had a midweek doubleheader with Georgia Southern where they took both games 7-0 and 9-0 in five. Tennessee also opened SEC play last weekend with then-No. 3 Florida where they went 1-2 on the weekend.
"Tennessee is a very athletic team," said head coach Mike Larabee. "They have outstanding pitchers so we are going to have to come out at a really high level in order to compete."
This will be the 41st-43rd matchup between the two programs with Tennessee leading the series 29-11. The last matchup was last May when Tennessee defeated the Razorbacks 9-1.
The weekend series with Tennessee is filled with many activities for fans to get involved. Friday will be Bingo Friday at Bogle Park. Saturday is faculty and staff day and there will also be free Razorbacks softball shamrock lapel pins given away for St. Patricks Day. Sunday is Little League Day; all kids wearing a jersey will get in free. Team photos will also be given away on Sunday.
