Arkansas? Lane Boyer Honored by the Southeastern Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas harrier Lane Boyer has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, for the second time this season, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Boyer was the top UA freshmen finisher in 24th place with a time of 30:55.0 at the Chile Pepper Festival. He was the Hogs’ sixth finisher and was the top freshman among SEC and South Central Regional competitors as well as the second-fastest freshman overall. In his three races as a Razorback, he has three top thirty finishes under his belt and was among the top four freshmen in all three races.

At the Chile Pepper Festival, the Hogs won the team title defeating Division II powerhouse top-ranked Abilene Christian by a score of 47-74. Of the 259 collegiate runners, the Razorbacks finished five runners in the top 13, six harriers in the top 24 and seven in the top 30. Of the top 10 SEC finishers, Arkansas boasted seven of the top 10 in the race.


Next up for the Hogs will be the 2007 SEC Championships in Lexington, Ky., Sat., Oct. 27. McDonnell and the Hogs will be on the hunt for Arkansas’ 34th-straight cross country conference title and 17th-straight SEC cross country title.
