Arkansas-LSU Game Moved to Friday for CBS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the 11th-consecutive season, Arkansas and LSU will meet in the “Battle of the Golden Boot” on the Friday (Nov. 24) following Thanksgiving in a game televised by CBS Sports.

The Hogs will host the Tigers in the regular season finale for both squads at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark. The game is slated to kickoff at 1:30 p.m. CT. In four of the past five seasons, the winner of the Arkansas-LSU game has gone on to represent the western division in the Southeastern Conference Football Championship Game.

The Golden Boot, a nearly 200-pound 24-karat gold statue in the shape of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, was introduced to the series in 1996. For the past 10 seasons, the winner of the Arkansas-LSU game has taken home the traveling trophy.

The Arkansas-LSU matchup is the third game on the Razorbacks’ 2006 schedule slated for television. The Hogs’ season opener against Southern California in Fayetteville will be nationally televised by ESPN. The game is still officially set for Saturday, Sept. 2. However, Arkansas has agreed to play the game on Sunday, Sept. 3 at ESPN’s request. An official announcement will be made regarding the game pending USC’s final approval of the date switch.

Arkansas also has a televised match-up with Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 28 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The Hogs and Indians will play on ESPNU.

No further television arrangements involving the Razorbacks have been made at this time. Networks may wait until 12 days prior to a game to select that contest for telecast.
