Arkansas Named Dickie V's National Team of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas has been named the national team of the week by ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale it was announced on Monday. The Razorbacks were recognized in the latest edition of Dickie V’s weekly awards after wins over Tulsa (68-59) and No. 8 Alabama (88-61).

I was not surprised when the Razorbacks beat Alabama in Arkansas,” Vitale said. “It was the margin that led the Razorbacks to the Team of the Week status. The 88-61 win was an eye-opener. Stan Heath’s team also beat Tulsa earlier in the week.”

Arkansas blitzed Alabama in the conference opener last Saturday jumping out to a 21-2 lead in front of a season-high Bud Walton Arena crowd. The Razorbacks dominated from start to finish expanding the lead to as many as 36 points. Alabama never led the game and closed to within 17 points of Arkansas in the second half.

Arkansas is 12-3, including four-consecutive victories, and is 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play. The Razorbacks battle defending national champion and No. 3 Florida at 6:05 p.m. CT on Tuesday in a game televised by ESPN. Arkansas closes the week with a road date at Ole Miss (4 p.m. – FSN) on Saturday.
