Arkansas ranked 10th in FWAA preseason poll

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team is ranked 10th in the Grantland Rice Super 16 Preseason Poll, announced Monday by the Football Writer’s Association of America.

The top 10 ranking is the third of the preseason for the Razorbacks, who were also ranked 10th in the preseason Associated Press poll and the USA Today coaches’ preseason poll.

Arkansas is the only team in the SEC to return a quarterback with a 3,000-yard passing season in his career and a running back with a 1,000-yard rushing season as a collegian as Tyler Wilson passed for 3,638 yards in 2011 and Knile Davis rushed for 1,322 yards in 2010. The Razorbacks also return last season’s team leaders in total offense, all-purpose yards, passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, tackles for loss, quarterback hurries, kickoff returns, scoring, field goals, extra points, punting and kickoffs.

The Razorbacks open the season Sept. 1 inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville against Jacksonville State. The game begins at 6 p.m. and will be shown on a pay-per-view basis. Fans should contact their cable and satellite providers for ordering information.

Tickets for four Fayetteville games are still on sale. Tickets for the non-conference games against Jacksonville State, Rutgers and Tulsa are $45, while tickets for the conference matchup against Kentucky are $55. Single-game tickets may be purchased online at ArkansasRazorbacks.com, in person the Razorback Ticket Center or by phone at 800-982-HOGS. Fans ordering tickets online have the option to print the tickets from home utilizing UA’s new eTicket system.

Little Rock season ticket packages, featuring games against ULM on Sept. 8 and Ole Miss on Oct. 27, are still available for $120. The Razorbacks and Rebels are set to square off inside War Memorial Stadium for the 16th time in series history, including the first meeting and 1913, and the first time since 1992. Tickets purchased for Little Rock contests are not available with a print-at-home option.
