Arkansas sets season-best time at SECs

LEXINGTON, KEN. – The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team set a season-best time of 7:33.06 in the 800 freestyle relay on the first day of competition at the Southeastern Conference Championships in Lexington, Ken. The squad of Marian Fulop, Kristen Thibodeaux, Macey Webb and Summer Jackson took almost 10 seconds off of their previous best performance. The Lady’Backs finished eighth in the race. “I was very happy with the freestyle relay tonight,” said head coach Jeff Poppell. “We got off to a great start and just kept it going.” In the 200 medley relay Fulop, Katie McGraw, Emily Gregory and Jackson touched in ninth with a time of 1:46.12, the second fastest time this season. Arkansas sits in seventh place with 70 points. Leading the way is Auburn with 164 points followed by Kentucky with 159 and LSU with 155.5. The SEC Championships continue tomorrow with preliminary competition beginning at 10 a.m. Tomorrow’s events include the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 200 free relay.
