Arkansas Soccer Open SEC Play at Home

Well, after a good start to our season going 7-2-0, SEC games are finally here.

We finished up last week with a 5-0 win over Jacksonville State this past Sunday, and the Friday prior, a 1-0 double overtime thriller against Missouri State in front of our largest non conference crowd ever! On behalf of the players, a huge thank you to all in attendance; your noise and support towards the end of the game was a major factor in our success. You really were the 12th player on the field. In return, I think you were rewarded by a very entertaining game by both sides.

Looking ahead, we open up SEC play this Friday against Ole Miss and Mississippi State on Sunday. Ole Miss. is a regionally ranked team that is usually in the running for the SEC West title. We have not had a lot of success against them, so another great crowd would be a huge help. The players are playing with confidence right now and hopefully will keep it going in the highly competitive cauldron of the SEC. Like all sports, the SEC is just plain tough! We have 5 teams ranked in the top 25 or thereabouts and 10 of the teams (including Arkansas) finished last year ranked in the top 80 in the country! The SEC sent 6 teams to the NCAA tournament last year. We are a very deep conference (as with all sports!). We have been right on the bubble of breaking through the past couple of years……with your continued support at home games – maybe this will be our year to get to the SEC and NCAA tournament…..

Now the fun stuff – Promotions at the games!

On Friday, we will be giving away 400 Lady’ back water bottles and at both games, 4 x $25.00 plus 2 x $50.00 gas cards (courtesy of Ingram/Comets Soccer club). On Sunday, we are celebrating Youth Soccer Month and will have pom-pom’s for all, as well as 50 t-shirts for the kids. In addition to all those goodies, we will have the usual prizes for the Lady’ back First Goal, Signed Programs, Bingo and Lady’ back of the Match awards.

Thanks again to all for all of your support. See you at the game!

Go Hogs!
