This Week The Lady Razorbacks travel to the northwest as they meet Washington State Nov. 7 in Pullman, Wash., at 5 p.m. This is the first meeting between the Lady’Backs and the Cougars.
Rewind The Lady’Backs returned from Louisiana after opening Southeastern Conference competition in Baton Rouge, La. On Oct. 29, the Lady’Backs fell to Louisiana State, 73-60, and Alabama, 74-59. In the Big Easy, Oct. 30, the Lady’Backs split as they defeated the University of New Orleans, 126-7, and lost to Tulane, 74-67.
Double Trouble Seniors Zsuzsa Csobanki, Whitney Lynn and sophomore Mariann Fulop were double event winners. Lynn took top honors in two events in both the LSU/Alabama and Tulane/UNO meets. Lynn won the 500 and 1,000 freestyle, while Csobanki won the 50 and 100 free against Tulane/UNO. Fulop finished first in the 100 back and 400 IM in the Tulane/UNO meet.
A Big Splash Diving continues to consistently score for the Lady’Backs. In the one-meter event, freshmen Brieanne Kushner and Hilarie Wilson took second- and third-place honors, respectively. Kushner also recorded a second-place finish on the three-meter board, while Wilson was fourth against LSU/Alabama. The duo then proceeded to take first and second in the one- and three-meter events at the Tulane/UNO meet. Wilson won the one-meter and Kushner took the three-meter.
Lynn’s Lane In the first SEC meet of the season, senior Whitney Lynn dominated the 500 and 1,000 free. Lynn won the 1,000 free 20 seconds before her closest competitor. She also won the 500 free without a challenge, as Lynn won by six seconds.
Up, up and away Freshman Emily Gregory led the Lady’Backs in the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Against LSU/Alabama, Gregory finished second in the 100 fly after touching the wall .04 seconds too late to win the race. In the 200 fly, Gregory scored a fourth-place finish for the team. Gregory won the 100 fly and finished third in the 200 fly in the Tulane/UNO meet.
Free bird Leading the Lady’Backs in the sprint freestyle events, senior Zsuzsa Csobanki won the 50 and 100 free against Tulane/UNO. Csobanki tallied a pair of second-place finishes against LSU/Alabama.
Road Rules The Lady’Backs continue their U.S. tour as they compile frequent flier miles this weekend when they travel to the Pacific Northwest. Last week, the Lady’Backs traveled over 1,100 miles and will travel nearly 4,000 as they visit the Washington State Cougars.
Fast Forward After an off-week, the Lady’Backs return to the pool in College Station, Texas for the Aggie Invitational Nov. 19-21.
