FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team is one of four around the country set to be featured next month in an original ESPN series, Depth Chart presented by Degree Men, as part of the network’s Year of the Quarterback initiative.
The series aims to offer a rarely seen glimpse into the lives of these elite student-athletes. Hour-long installments will chronicle the lives of quarterbacks, from freshman recruits to incumbent starters, beginning with the rigors of training and practice and continuing through the game. Depth Chart culminates at Arkansas, with the Razorbacks’ episode exploring how each quarterback prepares for game week.
"Depth Chart is a perfect fit for our YQB initiative, which explores the complexities of being a quarterback both on and off the field," says Vinnie Malhotra, executive producer, ESPN Content Development. "This position is so closely scrutinized that we created this series to draw back the curtain and really show fans what it takes to play quarterback in one of America’s top college football programs."
Utilizing specialized cameras and lenses, the filmmakers will capture the drama playing out live on the field with a cinematic quality previously unseen in this genre on ESPN. Depth Chart is produced by ESPN Content Development and DLP Entertainment.
The series, which also features Auburn, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin, begins Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN and will air on consecutive Wednesdays in the same time slot. Arkansas is set to wrap the series on Oct. 26. ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit will narrate the series.
