Arkansas Women's Golf Fact Sheet #6

Off to TexasThis week the Arkansas women’s golf team heads to Texas for the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic March 20-22. This is the 36th year for the event which takes place at the University of Texas Golf Club, with 18 holes on each of three days of competition.
About the EventThis year’s event is scheduled to have the University Course play 6,324 yards and is a par 72 course. New Mexico won the team title last year and Arkansas all-star Stacy Lewis was the medalist.
Making the tripArkansas has been pretty steady in the traveling five and does not change this week. The Razorbacks travel lone senior Lucy Nunn, juniors Kristin Ingram and Alex Schulte, sophomore Kelli Shean and freshman Katy Nugent. Nugent was the top qualifier this week followed by Nunn, Shean, Ingram and Schulte. Tiffany Phelps will make the trip to Texas as an individual competitor this week as well.
This year’s fieldField (17 teams): Arizona (1), Duke (9), Vanderbilt (13), Purdue (14), Arizona (20), Arkansas (22), Notre Dame (26), New Mexico (34), Texas A&M (35), UCF (42), Furman (44), South Carolina (46), Chattanooga (51), Texas (55), Tulsa (56), Florida State (57) and Oklahoma (66). Rankings based on latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index (March 8).
Arkansas at the LSU/ClevelandArkansas picked up a fourth-place finish in the spring opener behind a balanced attack by all five athletes. Senior Lucy Nunn carded a career-low 68 in the second round and won the event after a two hole playoff. It was her first career win.
Up NextThere is no rest for the weary and Arkansas is about to find that out. They open spring break with the Texas trip and follow up with the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic March 27-29.
