FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Carrying a 5-1 mark through the first two weeks of the season, the University of Arkansas volleyball continues its non-conference schedule Tuesday evening with a home match against Oral Roberts. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena. On their recent road trip, the Razorbacks won two out of three at the K-State Invitational.
Individual match tickets are $5 at the ticket window starting one hour prior to first serve. Students—with valid ID—and fans 17 years and younger receive free admission. In recognition of National Cheese Pizza Day, the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a free slice of cheese pizza.
Last Time Out
In the programs’ first meeting since the 1999 season, Arkansas swept Syracuse (Sept. 2) to close out its weekend at the K-State Invitational. The Razorbacks hit .337 in the match and had four players with at least six kills. Arkansas was also aided by eight service aces from five players including three from Pilar Victoria and two from Paige Johnson.
Against Oral Roberts
Tuesdays’ match will be the 20th meeting between the two programs with Arkansas owning an 11-8 advantage in the series. The Razorbacks have won nine of the 13 matches played in Fayetteville but ORU has won the last three meetings including a victory in Tulsa last season. Two of the top attackers in the NCAA will be on display with Pilar Victoria and ORU’s Laura Milos ranked among the national top 10 in kills per set.
Big Win in the Little Apple
Arkansas’ five-set win over Kansas State (Aug. 31) was the program’s first-ever road victory in Manhattan. The Razorbacks had lost the previous five meetings on the Wildcats’ home floor but secure the program’s third win in the series.
In recognition of their standout efforts, redshirt senior Pilar Victoria and freshman Elizabeth Pamphile were named to the K-State Invitational All-Tournament Team. Victoria averaged 6.73 kills per set while hitting .381 and Pamphile tallied 2.09 kills per set and .340 hitting percentage in the three-day tournament.
30 and Counting…
Redshirt senior Pilar Victoria put down 34 kills—one off her career best—in the Razorbacks’ five-set win at Kansas State (Aug. 31). The performance marked the fourth 30-kill performance of her career which ties the program kills leader Krystal Osborne for the most in Arkansas Volleyball history.
Season tickets are still available with pricing options beginning at $40 and can be purchased through the Razorback Ticket Center by calling 800-982-HOGS (4647). Following their match against Oral Roberts, the Razorbacks’ next home match is Wednesday, Sept. 20 when the team opens Southeastern Conference play against Tennessee.
