Bailey named to freshman All-America team

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas offensive guard Alvin Bailey was named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team, which was released Monday.

The Broken Arrow, Okla., native started all 13 games for the Razorbacks this season after redshirting the 2009 campaign. He was part of an offensive line that paved the way for a record-breaking UA offense that broke 11 single-season records, including 6,273 yards of total offense, 7.08 yards per play, 4,338 passing yards, 36 passing touchdowns and 291 total first downs.

Bailey blocked for the first season in school history featuring a 3,000-yard passer and a 1,000-yard rusher, and the Razorbacks were the only team in the country with a 3,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and five 600-yard receivers.

Bailey also was named to the SEC All-Freshman team by the conference’s coaches after the season.
