Banner Year For Razorback Athletics

2016-17 Annual Report

By any definition, the results achieved by Razorback Athletics in 2016-17 placed the University of Arkansas among the country’s elite intercollegiate athletics programs. Whether it is on the field, in the classroom or making a difference in the lives of student-athletes, the University of Arkansas is at the forefront of defining success in the Southeastern Conference and around the nation.

For the eighth time in 10 years, Arkansas finished among the Top 25 of the Learfield Directors’ Cup, finishing No. 20, including ranking second among schools with 19 sports or fewer. Of Arkansas’ 19 sport programs, 16 advanced to NCAA post-season play making it one of only 10 programs in the nation to advance teams to NCAA post-season play in baseball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.

The Razorbacks won five SEC Championships, including their third-straight SEC Triple Crown by women’s track and field. Arkansas was the SEC runner-up in outdoor track and field while the Razorback baseball, men’s basketball and soccer teams all advanced to their respective SEC Tournament Championship games.

In 2016-17, Razorback student-athletes also achieved some extraordinary things including setting a program record with a cumulative 3.25 GPA. In all, 68 percent of our student-athletes made a spring academic honor roll. A total of 100 Razorback student-athletes earned a cap and gown for commencement.

Thanks to the generous support of Razorback Foundation members, season ticket holders and fans, Razorback Athletics is able to invest in the continued success of student-athletes while operating as one of approximately 20 financially self-sustaining athletics programs in the nation. Razorback Athletics receives no university or state funding, including dollars generated through state and local taxes, and does not collect a student fee.

So as we prepare for the upcoming academic and athletics year, it is time to take one last look at what truly was a remarkable year for the Razorbacks!
