Bartlett Paces @RazorbackSD on Final Day of Zone Diving

IOWA CITY, Iowa – A career-best platform performance from junior Shelby Bartlett paced the Arkansas diving squad in the third and final day of the 2015 Zone Diving Championships Wednesday afternoon.

Bartlett posted a career-best score of 256.80 in the prelims of the platform dive to open the third day and earn a spot in the finals. But the Noblesville, Indiana native was unable to secure a spot in the NCAA Championships after placing 12th in the finals with a total score of 505.40.

Freshman Nicole Gillis rounded out Arkansas platform-diving corps with a qualifying performance in prelims with a career-best score of 218.80. Gillis then continued on to claim 17th place in the finals with a score of 216.70.

The zone diving meets then serve to qualify divers for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Arkansas will be competing in Zone D. Zone D is allocated eight qualifiers for the one-meter springboards, ten qualifiers in the three-meter boards and nine qualifiers in the platform. Unlike previous years, qualifying divers will only participate in the dives they qualified in.

The Razorback swimming team will next take to the pool in the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C., on March 19-21.
