ATHENS, Ga. – The 20th-ranked University of Arkansas baseball team (33-20, 17-12) continued its winning ways Saturday afternoon, capping the regular season with an 8-1 victory at Georgia (26-28, 10-19) to capture the series at Foley Field.

After dropping the opening game of the series, Arkansas came back with a vengeance over the final two days and outscored Georgia 17-1 to post consecutive victories in dominating fashion.

The Razorbacks have not dropped an SEC series over the last eight weekends, posting a record of 16-7 to vault up the SEC standings and capture the No. 5 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. Tyler Spoon ignited the offense in the first inning with a two-run double to right field, sending Clark Eagan and Andrew Benintendi racing home and giving Arkansas a first-inning lead for the second straight day.

The Razorbacks continued to pour it on with eight runs over the first three innings, using a Joe Serrano RBI double as part of a two-run second frame, before Brett McAfee recorded a two-run single in the third inning to cap the early barrage of runs.

The Arkansas pitching staff was on point, as James Teague (4-3) got the start and worked 4.1 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and adding four strikeouts. Jackson Lowery worked 1.2 innings with three strikeouts, while Josh Alberius and Zach Jackson shut down the Bulldogs over the final three innings to seal the win.
