Meet The Razorbacks Today At NWA Mall

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback baseball team will hold its annual Meet the Razorbacks Day on Saturday, Feb. 4 at center court of the Northwest Arkansas Mall from 4-6 p.m.

Entering its 22nd year, the event will feature Arkansas baseball head coach Dave Van Horn and the 2017 Razorback baseball team. Fans are encouraged to get autographs and take pictures with members of the team. Autographs are limited to one item per person. The Razorback Diamond Dolls, RBI Girls, and Ribby the Mascot will also be available for pictures and autographs.

This year’s squad features the return of nearly its entire pitching staff as well as the top two hitters in juniors Luke Bonfield and Carson Shaddy. The Hogs currently have 13 NCAA Regional appearances under current head coach Dave Van Horn, and 14 appearances, overall, in the last 15 years.

With Van Horn at the helm, the Razorbacks have made four trips to the College World Series, the most recent coming in 2015. Those four College World Series trips currently rank in a tie for eighth-most in the nation since 2003.

On the mound, Arkansas brings back sophomores Blaine Knight and Isaiah Campbell, two pitchers who Van Horn expects to lean on heavily this year. Knight led all starting pitchers with a 2.98 ERA over 48 innings, boasting two victories and 46 strikeouts in 18 appearances.

As for Campbell, he was a primary midweek starter in 2016, garnering a 3-1 record with a 3.69 ERA over 13 appearances, but he’ll likely move into a weekend starter’s role in 2017 and help solidify the rotation for new pitching coach Wes Johnson.

The 2017 Razorback baseball team will begin its season against Miami (Ohio) with a three-game series on Feb. 17. Season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets are available at ArkansasRazorbacks.com or by calling the Razorback Ticket Office at 1-800-982-HOGS.
