FAYETTEVILLE – With the holiday season in full swing, the University of Arkansas baseball team recently delivered Christmas presents to local children at Leverett Elementary School in Fayetteville. This is the fourth straight year that the Razorback baseball team has raised money and bought gifts for area children.
Players and coaches from the team raised money and then used those funds to go out and purchase gifts for the children. The team delivered those presents on Wednesday afternoon.
"It’svery important forus to be active in the Fayetteville community," junior DJ Baxendale said. "We know that we’ve been blessed and it’s good for us to reach out and help the people in our community. The team loves getting together and shopping for the children. Seeing the smiles on the kid’s faces when they open the presents is a moment that’s hard to describe."
The Arkansas baseball team is involved in community service activities throughout the year, including Book Hogs, Sweat Hawgs and Lift Up America.
