BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Arkansas is picked to finish fifth in the Southeastern Conference’s Western Division in a vote of media attending basketball media day Wednesday.
Alabama received 30 first-place votes and is picked to win the division with 54 points, followed by Mississippi State with eight first-place votes and 93 points, LSU with 126 points, Ole Miss with one first-place vote and 143 points, Arkansas with 211 points and Auburn with a first-place vote and 213 points.
Florida is picked to win the Eastern Division with 26 first-place votes and 59 points, followed by Georgia with nine first-place votes and 87 points, Kentucky with five first-place votes and 99 points, South Carolina with 180 points, Tennessee with 190 points and Vanderbilt with 225 points.
The preseason All-SEC first team includes Alabama center Erwin Dudley and guard Maurice Williams, Mississippi State center Mario Austin, Georgia forward Jarvis Hayes and Florida guard Brett Nelson. The second team includes LSU forward Ronald Dupree, Florida forward Matt Bonner, Kentucky guard Keith Bogans, Georgia guard Ezra Williams and MSU guard Derrick Zimmerman.
