FAYETTEVILLE- Freshman left-handed pitcher Kimmy Beasley was named the Southeastern ConferenceFreshman of the Week, for the second time this year, for her performance against No. 3/4 Alabama.
Beasley was in the circle for 17.0 innings this weekend where she went 1-1 and helped the Razorbacks break a 31 game losing streak to Alabama that dates back to 2002. Alabama is the second top-ten team that Beasley has defeated this year. She also defeated then No. 7 Baylor on February 11. Beasley appeared in all three games this weekend, starting two and collected a total of 11 strikeouts to give her a total of 91 on the season.
Beasley also received this honor two weeks ago for her performance at Kentucky. She is the first Razorback to receive Freshman of the Week more than once in a single season. The only other player to receive SEC Player of the Week awards more than once in a season was Tammy Kincaid in 1999 where she received Pitcher of the Week two times in her junior season.
The Razorbacks will be back in action on Wednesday at Missouri State where they will wrap up their 2012 non-conference schedule. Arkansas then travels to Georgia this weekend for the final regular season conference series.
