FAYETTEVILLE – Calli Berna and Tom Collen represented the University of Arkansas women’s basketball at the 2013 SEC Basketball Media Days in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday.
The junior guard and seventh-year head coach met with a variety of media members throughout the morning at the annual event held in Westin Hotel, including Comcast Sports, ESPN, Fox Sports South, SEC Digital Network and SEC Video, SiriusXM, and also print and web media.
Berna led the SEC in all games last season with 6.3 assists per game by recording 208 helps in 33 games. The Fayetteville, Ark., native, also tied for eighth in league play with 2.1 steals per game and finished ninth in the country in assist/turnover ratio (2.4) with 207 assists to 86 turnovers. Berna ranks 12th in career assists at Arkansas, holding single season assists records for both regular season (208) and SEC season (99).
Coach Collen has paced the Razorbacks to three consecutive 20-plus win seasons and four postseason appearances. He may face his toughest challenge yet this season, however, as Arkansas returns just five players with playing experience&from last season’s&squad&that went 20-13 overall and 6-10 in SEC play.
Berna and Collin were joined by Arkansas men’s basketball representatives, head coach Mike Anderson and senior forward Coty Clarke, who took part in the men’s SEC Basketball Media Days.&
