Blocking Effort Leads to Sweep of Tennessee
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas volleyball controlled the net with 14.0 total blocks Sunday afternoon in a straight-set win over Tennessee in front of 1,271 fans at Barnhill Arena. Senior co-captains Danielle Harbin and Breana Jones had 17 and nine kills, respectively, to pace the offense. Six different players had at least two blocks in the victory, led by a match-high seven blocks by Ana Sofia Jusino.
The Razorbacks return to action Friday, Nov. 18, at Georgia for their first of three-consecutive road matches. The upcoming weekend will also feature a Sunday contest at Mississippi State. Arkansas’ next home match—and Senior Day—is Saturday, Nov. 26, when the team hosts No. 6 Florida.

The Razorbacks’ 14.0 blocks represent the team’s highest mark in a three-set match this season and the second-highest total overall. Arkansas’ season-high of 15.5 blocks came Sept. 3 in a five-set match at No. 4 Kansas. Jusino had her 11th outing of her senior campaign with four or more blocks. With four matches remaining, the Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, native is within 24 blocks of cracking the program’s career top 10.
Arkansas (6-20, 4-10 SEC) trailed by as many as five points in the first set before putting together an 8-2 run to take a 21-20 lead on a Harbin kill. The opening set was tied at 23-23 when Harbin registered another kill and Savannah Voelzke put up a solo block on set point to secure the first frame. In a similar pattern, Tennessee (15-12, 5-9 SEC) erased a five-point deficit in the second to pull even at 20-all. The score was tied at 22-22 when Harbin responded with three-consecutive kills to give the Razorbacks the 2-0 match lead.
The home team won six of the first eight points in the third set to take control out of the halftime break. Arkansas put up six blocks during a 10-point stretch to go ahead 18-8 and force the Volunteers to use a timeout. The visitors used a final push to close to within four at 22-18 but Barbara Dapic put down a kill followed by a Jones-Voelzke tandem block. On the team’s second match point, Voelzke secured the sweep with her fourth kill.
