Boits Victory Helps Arkansas Take Team Title
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The third-ranked Razorbacks continued their winning ways in front of a large hometown crowd at the 16th annual Chile Pepper Invitational as they captured the team trophy with 33 points. Junior transfer Josphat Boit turned in another outstanding individual performance and remained undefeated this season when he finished first with a time of 29:22. In addition to Boit’s excellent showing seven other UA runners finished in the top 20. During the race each member of the Razorback team wore black ribbons in remembrance of the three men that were killed on Thursday while setting up for the Chile Pepper Invitational.
“I’m pleased because the depth was there today,” Arkansas head coach John McDonnell said. “This team has been showing me a lot in training. The younger guys are doing things that I didn’t think they could do. I think before the season is out and if we stay healthy, from top to bottom, we’ll be a pretty good team.”
