Brian Walker Named SEC Hitter of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.
– Arkansas catcher Brian Walker was named the Southeastern Conference’s Hitter of the Week on Monday after helping his Razorbacks sweep No. 6 Alabama at Baum Stadium over the weekend.

The Tulsa Union product led the way for the Hogs with a .600 (6 for 10) batting average and five RBI. Walker also ripped his fourth home run of the season and collected three doubles.

He raised his batting average 25 points and set a new single-season career-high in RBI with 26. Walker also reached base with three walks and a hit by pitch for a .714 on-base percentage for the weekend.

Walker had a RBI double and a home run on Friday night to keep the Razorbacks in the game for a dramatic 4-3 win in 11 innings. He went 3 for 3 with three RBI on Saturday and reached base five times. He then finished the series with a single on Sunday while reaching base three times.

The Razorbacks travel to Ole Miss this weekend for a three-game set with the Rebels. Game times are set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Saturday’s game is slated as the SEC Game of the Week and will be televised by Fox Sports (channel 27 on Cox Cable in Northwest Arkansas).
