Brown Hogs advance at USAs

FAYETTEVILLE – Freshman Stephanie Brown and junior Shelise Williams, members of the Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field team, advanced to the next round of their respective events at USA Championships, at Drake Stadium, in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday.

In the junior 800 meters, Brown won her heat and finished second overall in the prelims. She clocked a time of 2:08.46. Brown will run the in the junior 800-meter finals on Friday. Williams finished 15th overall in the prelims of the 400 meters. She clocked a time of 53.64 and will compete in Friday’s semifinals. Volunteer assistant coach Monica Hargrove also competed in the prelims of the 400 meters. She finished sixth overall with a time of 52.86 and will compete in Friday’s semifinals.

Former Razorback Christin Wurth-Thomas ran the prelims of the 1,500 meters. She finished sixth overall with a time of 4:12.34 and will run in Saturday’s finals. Former Razorback LaShaunte’a Moore ran the prelims of the 100 meters. She clocked the fastest overall time of 11.26 and will compete in Friday’s semifinals.

Competition for the Razorbacks will resume at 11:05 a.m. on Friday.
