Brown Wins SEC Field Athlete Honor for Second-Consecutive Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.For the second-consecutive week, the Southeastern Conference has recognized Razorback javelin standout Eric Brown as the SEC Field Athlete of the Week.

The senior is ranked No. 1 in the javelin and has captured back-to-back javelin titles at the Texas Relays and the Mt. SAC Relays. Last week, Brown won the SEC honor after posting the nation’s leading throw of 245-10 at the Texas Relays. Brown followed up his exceptional performance last weekend with a victory in the javelin at the Mt. SAC Relays. He posted a winning measurement of 238-6.

“We are obviously pleased with the success he is having this season,” Arkansas field events coach Dick Booth said. “It’s awfully nice to win the SEC athlete of the week twice in a row. He has earned it. He is dominating his event right now. We are still working on getting him primed for the conference and NCAA meets, but he is going out and getting it done. That is a credit to his hard work.”

Brown will make a homecoming, of sorts, this weekend when he competes in the javelin at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. Brown hails from nearby Baldwin City, Kan. The rest of the Razorback squad will compete on Saturday at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
