Bubis and Pacheco Fall in Second Round of Sing
NORCROSS, Ga. – Seniors Aleksey Bubis and Eduardo Pacheco found their luck running out in the second round of the SEC Indoors in Norcross, Ga., on Friday. The Hogs both defeated ranked opponents in their fist round match ups only to meet stiffer competition.

Bubis, No. 57 in the nation, faced off against Kentucky Karim Benmansour, ranked No. 70. Benmansour would prove victorious, making quick work of Bubis winning in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.

Pacheco, No. 104, would find the same fate when he met Ole Miss’s Claes Lindholm. Lindholm blanked Pacheco in the first set and nearly shut him out in the second to move on, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Head coach Robert Cox was disappointed in the day’s outcome.

“I am disappointed with the way things ended up today,” Cox said. “I was hoping to do better considering the great start that we had. We aren’t through yet, Nathan Price plays in the back draw on Saturday and Bubis and Pacheco still have doubles play coming up.”

Pacheco and Bubis have faired well over the years and have a 16-15 overall record when teaming up. So far this year, Bubis and Pacheco have only had the opportunity to play once and they fell at the Baylor Intercollegiates.

The Hogs will continue play at the SEC Indoors tomorrow before traveling home to open the home season with an exhibition match. Arkansas will face off against Scotland’s Stirling University Bravehearts in their exhibition on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m.

Regular season play will open on Jan. 24, at 5 p.m., against Nebraska.

ROUND OF 32
#70 Karim Benmansour (UK) def. #57 Aleksey Bubis, 6-1, 6-2
