Bugslag qualifies for NCAA Zone Championships

Mizzou Invite Day 3 Complete Results

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Arkansas diver Liana Bugslag qualified for the NCAAZone Diving Championships in platform diving on Sunday at the Mizzou Invite, scoring a 240.25 and finishing second in the event.“Liana was solid today,” Arkansas diving coach Dale Schultz said. “The next month will be spent getting all her different platform dives ready for the rest of the season and for Zones.”

Madison Palmer, who won the one-meter springboard competition Saturday, placed seventh on the platform with a score of 179.45. Alex Roman also competed in the event and scored a 143.20 for eighth place.

In the finals of the 1650 free, Maddie Fogel and Sarah Rowland were in the pool for the Razorbacks. Fogel touched in at17:47.84 for sixth placeand Rowland finished in 18:11.14, in ninth place.

“Maddie swam a very good 1650 today,” assistant coach Todd Mann said. “This was her first time swimming this event at the college level, and she’ll look to build on today’s performance throughout the rest of the year.”

Diving in the platform prelims, Bugslag qualified for the finals with her fourth place score of 230.50 and was followed by Palmer in fifth with the score 210.15. Roman came in eighth in prelims with a score of 140.50.

In the Sunday morning swimming prelims, Gina Bargiachi touched in 16th in the 200 back at 2:24.84. She also swam in the prelims of the 100 free, where she finished 29th in a time of 58.99.
