FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Kemoy Campbell and head coach Chris Bucknam were named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Athlete and Coach of the Year, respectively, after the 2013 NCAA South Central Regional Championships. The awards were announced Tuesday. Campbell along with teammate Stanley Kebenei led the Razorbacks to the 2013 NCAA South Central Regional Championship in a 1-2 photo-finish to clinch a spot in the 2013 NCAA National Championships. Also this season, Campbell has captured two meet titles, been named the SEC Runner of the Year, earned a spot on the All-SEC first team and been named the SEC Runner of the Week on two separate occasions. Campbell claimed his first individual title at the prestigious Wisconsin adidas Invitational where he led from start-to-finish and beat 287 runners in the field. He also set a record at the SEC Championship by crossing at 22:58.73, beating the previous record by Arkansas’ Josphat Boit in 2004 with a time of 23:09.91. His time was also a record at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, which he shattered the previous time of 23:34.0. Campbell became Arkansas’ ninth individual conference champion, while the program now has 12 total SEC champions. He was also named a member of the All-SEC first team for the second year in a row. For his effort during the SEC Championship Meet, he was named the SEC Runner of the Year.
