FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Reigning SEC Individual Champion and three-time All-American Sebastian Cappelen has been named one of Golf World’s Top 50 Players to Watch in 2013-14, announced by the media out let on Thursday. Cappelen, who was tabbed Arkansas’ “Go-To-Guy” late last week in Golfweek’s team preview, enters his senior campaign atop the program’s all-time scoring list (72.0). He was one of 11 players from the SEC to make it onto Golf World’s Top 50 list. A three-time Palmer Cup participant for Team Europe, Cappelen is coming off a summer in which he also advanced to match play at the 111th Western Amateur Championship and the 113th U.S. Amateur Championship. Cappelen went 3-2 over the two tournaments, advancing to the semifinals of the Western Amateur. Cappelen is a three-time PING All-American, highlighted by last year’s third team distinction, and owns 14 career top 10s in 36 tournaments. He has produced 56 even-par or lower rounds out of a possible 105, including three of the program’s top 10 single rounds and the top two 54-hole scores. A native of Denmark, Cappelen was named to the All-SEC first team that last two years. Cappelen is part of a loaded Razorback lineup that features six players that have NCAA Regional experience while returning four players from last year’s NCAA Championship squad. The Razorbacks are ranked No. 7 in the Golf World/Nike Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll and No. 10 in Golfweek’s Preseason Top 30.
