Cappelen, Tracy earn all-America honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Sebastian Cappelen and junior Ethan Tracy of the University of Arkansas men’s golf team were each named to one of GolfWeek‘s All-America teams it was announced on Monday. Cappelen took third-team honors and earned a spot on the all-freshman team while Tracy garnered honorable mention honors.

"Sebastian and Ethan both had tremendous years for us," Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said. "I am very proud of the accolades that they have been given this year and both are very deserving. I think what has me most excited is that both return next year to lead a veteran team."

Cappelen and Tracy each earned second-team All-SEC honors in late April with Cappelen also earning recognition on the SEC All-Freshman team. Their post-season accolades continued on June 1 with the announcement of the PING! All-Central Region teams.

Cappelen led the Razorbacks in stroke average this season at 71.79, a total that ranks fifth on Arkansas’ all-time single season charts. Over the course of 13 tournaments, 38 rounds, he shot just 18-over par and had six top 10 finishes including a victory at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Cappelen’s outstanding year was capped with a school record tournament score of 199, 17-under par, which he shot at the Border Olympics.

Tracy had a wonderful year as he rebounded from a tough sophomore campaign. He finished second on the squad in stroke average at 72.26 and led the Razorbacks with seven top 10 finishes this year in just 13 tournaments. Over the course of 38 rounds with the Razorbacks, Tracy contributed to Arkansas’ team score 37 times and he was at or below par in six tournaments.
