Cappelen, Tracy named all-region

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Ethan Tracy and freshman Sebastian Cappelen of the University of Arkansas men’s golf team were each named Division I PING All-Central Region by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The honor is the second all-region selection for Tracy who also earned the distinction his freshman year in 2009, and the first for Cappelen. The tandem have led the Razorbacks throughout the 2010-11 season and have been Arkansas top finisher in 10 of 12 tournaments this year and have gone 1-2 for the Razorbacks in six tournaments.

"This is a well deserved honor for both Sebastian and Ethan," Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said. "Both have played at a very high level all year long and have led this team to the national championship. I am very happy that their achievements are being recognized."

Cappelen leads Arkansas with a stroke average of 71.49 and is a total of eight-over par over 25 rounds of golf this year. He has shot par or better in six of his 12 tournaments and has six top 10 finishes. He was named to the All-SEC second team as well as the SEC All-Freshman team and was the SEC Player of the Week in late March. At the Border Olympics, March 25-26, he shot a school record 17-under par, 199, for the three-round tournament.

Tracy’s season includes a stroke average of 71.97, six rounds of par or better and seven top 10 finishes. He was also named to the All-SEC second team this spring and leads the Razorbacks in top 10 finishers. Over the course of 35 rounds, Tracy has counted toward Arkansas’ team score 34 times and has a low round of 66 which he set in the third round of the John Hayt Invitational in early March.
