FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Razorback Becca Carden was named to the Capital One Academic All-District second team for the 2011 softball season.
Carden, a senior center fielder for the Razorbacks, sat at the top of the Razorbacks lineup for the last 28 games of the season. She hit career-highs in hits (53), runs (24), RBI (24), at bats (158) and games started (51). The Miami, Okla., native had six home runs on the season to lead the Razorbacks and highlighted her senior season with back-to-back home runs against Ole Miss and a .335 batting average.
Carden has 43 career RBI as a Razorback and 20 stolen bases. She has played 121 games for Arkansas with 283 career at-bats. Carden has 17 multi-hit games this season and six multi-RBI games. Carden leads the team in batting average with a .329 in conference play and has eight RBI in the SEC.
Academically, Carden was a member of the University’s spring 2009 and fall 2010 honor roll and the senior graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in May of 2010. She completes her first year of graduate school this spring. As an undergraduate, Carden boasted a 3.56 GPA and has maintained a 3.33 while pursuing her master’s degree.
