Carr earns academic honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas junior Stephanie Carr earned selection to the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team it was announced Thursday. Carr, a distance free swimmer from Jacksonville, Fla., becomes the fourth Lady Razorback swimmer or diver to be named to the first team and it is the seventh honor for the program. “This is a fantastic honor for Stephanie,” said head coach Jeff Poppell. “We take great pride in our team’s performance in the classroom and in the pool and it’s great to see her hard work rewarded.” Carr maintains a 3.95 grade point average in advertising/public relations and enjoys success both in and out of the pool. An All-American in the 1,650 freestyle this season, Carr was one of four Lady’Backs to compete at the NCAA Championship. She broke school records in the 1,000 and 1,650 free and has the second-best time in the 200 free and fourth-best in the 500 free. Carr was second on the team with seven wins and finished in the top 10 in the 500 and 1,650 free at the Southeastern Conference Championship. In the classroom, Carr was selected to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and was honored by the UA Athletic Department as an Academic Champion with a 4.00 GPA.
