Catherine White earns league honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback sophomore Catherine White, a member of the women’s cross country team, has been named the Southeastern Conference Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

For the second time in as many seasons, White won the 4K race at the Arkansas Dual to open the season. Her time of 14:06.5 paced seven of her teammates to top-10 finishes. Her time is currently the fastest 4,000-meter time in the SEC.

The Razorbacks scored a perfect 15 points to top Missouri Southern’s 48 points at last Friday’s Arkansas Dual. Dacia (Barr) Perkins was the second harrier to cross the line. She clocked a 4K time of 14:06.9. Denise Bargiachi was third on the team and overall with her time of 14:06.9. Miranda Walker was Arkansas’ fourth runner. She finished fourth overall with a time of 14:14.3. Christine Kalmer rounded out the Razorbacks’ scoring five with a time of 14:15.9.

Also running for Arkansas were Jillian Rosen (seventh; 14:25.4), Megan Jackson (eighth; 14:30.6) and Ashley Williams (ninth; 14:48.5).

Next up for Arkansas will be the Aztec Invitational in San Diego, Saturday, Sept. 13. The Razorbacks will begin the 6K race at 12:30 p.m. CST. For more information about Arkansas women’s cross country, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
