Chancellor’s List Highlights Academic Success

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorbacks Athletics Department continues its classroom success with more than 50 student-athletes earning selection to the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists for the fifth consecutive semester.

The spring 2015 semester saw 56 Razorback student-athletes honored. Head coach Sean Schimmel had 12 women’s swimmers and divers on the lists while Chris Bucknam and men’s cross country/track and field had eight selections.  Lance Harter and the women’s cross country/track and field teams were next with seven student-athletes on the lists.

Swimming and Diving leads Arkansas’ all-time selections to the Chancellor’s and Dean’s lists with more than 100 honorees since 2009.

The success in the classroom by Razorbacks student-athletes is part of a bigger, University-wide initiative with Arkansas Athletics setting the goal of achieving a department grade point average of 3.0 by 2015 and 3.2 by 2021.  Razorbacks student-athletes posted a program record 3.24 cumulate GPA in 2014-15, already surpassing their goal.

The spring 2015 semester was highly successful with more than 60 percent of Razorbacks student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher, the 11th consecutive semester with a mark better than 3.0.  Sixteen Razorbacks teams were above a 3.0 and 87 student-athletes earned their degrees in 2014-15.
