Chile Pepper next for women's cross

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country will continue the 2009 season with a 6K race at the 21st annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The gun will go off at 10:30 a.m., Sat., Oct. 17 at the Razorback Cross Country Course at Agri Park.

Alyssa Allison, Cali George, Kristen Gillespie, Taylor Johnson, Samantha Learch, Miranda Walker, Ashley Williams and Keri Wood are slated to compete for the Razorbacks this weekend.

Also scheduled to compete in Fayetteville this weekend are No. 12 Baylor, No. 22 BYU, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Missouri State, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, No. 20 Texas Tech, Utah and Wyoming, among others.

In the current edition of the USTFCCCA weekly rankings, the Razorbacks are listed at No. 3 in the South Central rankings and are receiving votes in the national poll.

Walker has picked up two individual wins to start the 2009 season. She won the 4K Arkansas Invitational in a time of 14:01.5. She went on to win the 5K MSSU Stampede in a time of 17:23.64. Arkansas also picked up meet titles in both events.
