Clark-Bibbs Named to Creighton Classic All-Tournament Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On the strength of her standout performance this weekend, senior middle blocker Chanell Clark-Bibbs has been named to the Creighton Classic All-Tournament Team. The Razorbacks finished with a 2-1 weekend record after wins over No. 11 Wisconsin and Kansas State. Clark-Bibbs has now earned all-tournament accolades in each of Arkansas’ four non-conference tournaments this season. Arkansas carries a 10-2 overall record into the start of SEC play.

Clark-Bibbs paced the Razorbacks’ offensive attack with a .443 hitting percentage to go with 3.85 kills per set. She totaled 50 kills during the weekend including a career-high 24 kills at a .556 clip in Arkansas’ upset of No. 11 Wisconsin, surpassing her previous best of 21 set last season. Clark-Bibbs also tallied 19 kills to help the Razorback upend Kansas State. She hit at least .341 in each of the three matches during the weekend to raise her season average to .441 heading into SEC play.

Defensively, Clark-Bibbs led the team’s efforts at the net with 17.0 total blocks, good for an average of 1.31 blocks per set. She tied her career with eight total blocks against Kansas State, and followed with a six-block performance in the five-set win over Wisconsin. Behind her tough serving, Clark-Bibbs picked up 12 digs during the weekend including six against the Badgers. With her all-around play, she averaged 4.69 points per set.

Arkansas’ win over 11th-ranked Wisconsin was the program’s first win over a ranked team since knocking off then-No. 21 Tennessee during the 2012 season, and the first over a top-15 team since beating No. 5 Florida at Barnhill Arena in 2007. The Razorbacks’ 10 non-conference wins match the program’s high for wins entering SEC play, tying the mark also held by the 1997 and 1999 teams.

The Creighton Classic marked the end of the non-conference season and begins a stretch of seven-straight matches against opponents that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Conference play begins Sept. 23 at LSU in a match that will be televised on ESPNU. The Razorbacks’ next home match is Oct. 4 for their SEC home opener against fifth-ranked Florida.
