Clark Races to SEC Runner of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas freshman Devin Clark has been selected as the SEC Runner of the Week following her second place performance in the 6K at last weekend’s UC Riverside Invitational.

Clark recorded a personal best time of 20:39.00 in the 6K Invitational to finish among the top two in her collegiate debut out of 97 runners. She was the top finisher of an Arkansas team that saw five of their runners come through in the top 10. The event also marked her first attempt racing at that distance.

One of the top runners out of Texas, Clark maintained pace with the lead runners, Aminat Olowora of Southwestern College and Christine Hoffman of UC Davis as they all crossed the two mile mark in 11:13. Kicking to the finish Clark was able to hold off Hoffman’s pursuit of the second place spot reaching the finish just one second ahead of her.

“We all knew that Devin is a very special athlete with a bright future ahead of her,” said head coach Lance Harter. “This honor is just a start for her long and illustrious career.”

The Spring Branch native will head to Joplin, Mo. this weekend as the Razorbacks compete at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 19.
