BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — After helping guide Arkansas to its second straight 2-0 week and stretch its current win streak to five games, senior forward Coty Clarke has been named the SEC Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday morning.
Keyed by his career-high 23 points on Saturday in the win over Georgia, Clarke is the first Razorback to win the SEC Player of the Week award this season and the 14th different player in program history.
Clarke’s week started with 11 points and seven rebounds at Kentucky, as Arkansas snapped a nine-game losing streak at Rupp Arena for its first win in Lexington since 1994, Clarke played his best in the biggest moment, scoring seven of the team’s 11 points in overtime for the 71-67 victory and the season sweep of the Wildcats.
The Birmingham native’s aforementioned 23-point night against the Bulldogs featured 15 first half points, which was just one off of his season high. Clarke went 11-of-13 from the free throw line while knocking down 2-of-3 from three-point land en route to his second career 20-point night.
From the start of the overtime period at Kentucky through the Georgia game, Clarke scored 30 points in 33 minutes on the floor, hitting 15-of-17 from the free throw line. Clarke averaged 17.0 points and five rebounds over the 2-0 week and has been critical during the team’s five-game win streak, supplying 12.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals over that span.
Clarke and the Razorbacks will begin the final week of regular season play on Wednesday night when they host Ole Miss at 7 p.m. for an ESPN3 telecast.
