FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas volleyball head coach Robert Pulliza has announced the addition of four players for the 2012 season. The 2012 Razorback signee class includes Monica Bollinger, Elizabeth Fortado, Ana Jusino and Summer Morgan. All four players will enter the program as freshmen. This marks the fourth recruiting class for Pulliza.
"I feel that we have a top-25 class with this group," Pulliza said. "We have two very dynamic middles, a lefty right side with great presence and a defensive player that brings great skill and a competitive edge that is unmatched. The addition of this class to the existing group of players will certainly keep us moving forward in being one of the best programs in the country."
Bollinger is a 5-9 defensive specialist from St. Louis, Mo. As a four-year starter for Rockwood Summit High School, she was a four-time All-Suburban South Conference selection, earning first-team accolades on three occasions. As a six-rotation player for the Falcons, Bollinger finished her career with a school-record 1,105 kills, 802 digs and 183 service aces. During her career, Rockwood Summit was a four-time champion of the Rolla Tournament.
Bollinger played club for High Performance, and in 2009 and 2011, her team won the Gateway Regional championship. She also helped the team finish fifth at the 2011 AAU Girls Junior National Championships and 2011 Big South National Qualifier. In 2009 and 2010, Bollinger was chosen to participate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Select A3 Program.
Fortado is a 6-2 opposite from Flower Mound, Texas, where she played for Marcus High School. As a senior, she helped lead the Marauders to the regional finals of the 2011 Texas State Tournament. She is ranked No. 75 in the 2012 Senior Aces class by PrepVolleyball.com and holds a spot on the Under Armour Player to Watch list. During her prep career, she was a three-time all-district performer, named to the All-State team and was the Offensive Player of the Year for Marcus in 2010. Fortado plays club for Texas Advantage, which also produced current Razorbacks Amanda Anderson, Jasmine Norton and Clarissa Pavey.
Jusino is a 6-2 middle blocker from Orlando, Fla., where she played for Timber Creek High School. She helped the team advance to the finals of the district tournament and the quarterfinals of the regional tournament. She is featured by PrepVolleyball.com as the No. 79 player in the 2012 Senior Aces class. Jusino led Florida’s Class 8A in total blocks in 2011.
Jusino plays club for Top Select and brings international experience as a past member of the Puerto Rico Youth and Junior National Team. Jusino was part of the Puerto Rico team that won bronze at the 2010 NORCECA Youth Continental Championships and competed at the 2011 FIVB Youth World Championships. She also played in the 2010 NORCECA Junior Championships and 2011 Pan American Youth Cup.
Morgan is a 6-1 middle blocker from Springdale, Ark., and played for Har-Ber High School where she played for former Razorback standout Kele (Brewer) Luigs who is an assistant coach for the Wildcats. As a junior, Morgan was named to the 7A All-State Tournament Team. In 2011, she helped Har-Ber advance to the state tournament quarterfinals and went on to earn All-Tournament and All-State accolades. Also recognized as a Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball.com, Morgan was one of 20 players to just miss being included in the Top 100. She plays her club ball for Ozark Juniors.
