Coach Smith meets with media on Monday

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas head football coach John L. Smith met with the media Monday afternoon to discuss the 10th-ranked Razorbacks’ season-opening matchup with Jacksonville State on Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Coach Smith commented that the team is excited to kick off the season against Jacksonville State. "It seems like it’s been a fairly long camp, and I know our guys are excited about being in the regimentation of game week,” Coach Smith said. “That’s an exciting thing and we are excited as coaches to be there and excited for the players to be there, and let’s get going. I know we’re fired up to be playing someone other than ourselves and I know our expectations are high and I know our guys are going to go to the field this week and prepare well and be ready to go.”

Coach Smith also talked about the leadership the seniors have demonstrated and the high expectations for the season.

“I think our leaders and our senior class has done a great job, and I think their expectations of each other and the team is very, very high,” Coach Smith said. “At least my take right now is we are going to do the right things on and off the field.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 6:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on PPV. Fans should contact their cable and satellite providers for ordering information.
