Cullen Gassaway

Cullen Gassaway is entering his first season on the Arkansas coaching staff as a student assistant after playing two seasons for the Razorbacks.

Gassaway, a native of Bedford, Texas, was a transfer from Blinn Junior College. He went on to play in 66 games in a Razorback uniform, starting 54, and had a career batting average of .287.

Gassaway helped the Razorbacks earn a trip to Omaha in 2015, playing in 24 games with 15 starts as a designated hitter and first baseman.

He finished his junior season with six multi-hit games after hitting .283 with three doubles and three home runs.

Last year, Gassaway became Arkansas’ primary first baseman as he played in 42 games, starting 39. He saw an uptick in his average to .289 with seven doubles, one triple and 24 RBIs.

In conference play, Gassaway was even better, leading the team with a .303 average, 23 hits, six doubles and 10 RBIs.

He finished the year with 10 multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games, as well as providing the walk-off game winner in the series finale against Eastern Illinois to secure the series victory against the Panthers.
