Collis Maday Taken on Second Day of MLB Draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior closer Devin Collis and junior right-handed pitcher Daryl Maday were selected on the second day of the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday.

Collis, a left-handed pitcher from St. Charles, Mo., was the first Razorback off the draft board on Wednesday, going to the Colorado Rockies in the 26th round. He posted a 7-3 record during his senior year in 2006 with nine saves and a 2.45 ERA.

Maday, a Bristol, Wis., native moved into the Hogs’ starting rotation over the final month of the season and flourished. He was taken in the 30th round by the San Francisco Giants after finishing the season with a 2-3 record with a 3.14 ERA and five saves. He made six starts and 19 appearances in 2006.

Arkansas had five players drafted during the two-day 2006 MLB Draft.
