Cotton Named SEC Freshman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In recognition of his standout effort last weekend, Kenzo Cotton has been selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office. He is the second Razorback to earn league weekly honors this season, joining Andrew Irwin who was recognized during the indoor campaign.

In his collegiate outdoor debut, Cotton raced to victory at 100 meters at the Arkansas Spring Invitational. He crossed the finish line in a time of 10.44, the sixth-fastest time in the SEC and fastest by a freshman this year. Cotton was also part of Arkansas’ 4×100-meter relay that posted a time of 40.33 and was the top-finishing collegiate team in the field. During the indoor season, the La Vista, Neb., native was a two-time All-American for his work with Arkansas’ relay teams.

The No. 6 Razorback men collected five wins in their spring opener. In addition to Cotton, Arkansas picked up first-place efforts from Marqueze Washington at 200 meters, Ken LeGassey in the high jump, Devin Randall in the discus and Andrew Henn in the javelin. The Razorbacks continue their outdoor campaign April 3-4 with the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
