Cox signs Nott for 2010-11

FAYETTEVILLE- The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team has added its first newcomer for next year, signing Michael Nott to a national letter of intent to join the Razorbacks for the 2010-11 season, Arkansas head coach Robert Cox announced. A right-hander from Chorley, England, Nott comes to Arkansas with a strong junior’s record.
“I am really excited to have Mike join our program, “Cox said. “Not only is he a great player but has a great attitude. He has a lot of untapped raw talent and his future at Arkansas is unlimited. He will bring a lot to our program and I expect him to be an impact player for us.”
Nott is currently the No. 8 ranked junior player in England and owns victories in numerous prestigious international tournaments, including the quarterfinals at the Road to Wimbledon in singles and reached the finals in doubles competition. He was a semifinalist at the National Winter Grand Prix at Gosling, Hertfordshire in England.
“Nott is a very impressive player, “Cox said. “He is a testament to the kind of players that our program seeks. Nott possesses great character and resolve.”
Nott is the son of Derek and Lorraine Nott. He is the brother of current top Razorback, Christopher Nott. While attending Rivington and Backrod High School, he played under Steven Fathers at the Bolten Arena tennis club. He plans to major in general business in the Sam Walton College of Business.
