CRAIG LILE ADVANCES TO NCAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
VICTORIA, Texas – Arkansas junior Craig Lile’s 5-under-par 66 on Saturday propelled him to a tie for third place at the NCAA Golf Central Region at the Victoria Country Club and has secured him a spot for the NCAA Golf Championships.

The first team all-Southeastern Conference selection finished the tournament with a 5-under-par 208. This is Lile’s second trip to the national championships, but first as an individual.

Lile shot a pair of even par 71s and was in a tie for thirteenth after the first two rounds. He was also leading the six competitors trying for the two spots available for individuals by three strokes. Only the top two individuals from each of the three regionals from around the nation advance to the championship tourney.

This was Lile’s sixth top five finish and his sixth round in the 60s this season.

In the NCAA Golf Central Regional, Texas rallied from fourth place on Friday to win the tournament finishing with a 5-under-par 847. Kent University placed second two strokes behind Texas and Oklahoma State was third at two under.

Jon Mills of Kent took the first place medalist honors, while Cody Miller of Oklahoma placed second. Lile was one of five to tie for third. Jon Bartlett of Ole Miss was the other individual qualifier.

Lile will begin preparations for NCAA Golf Championships in Opelika, Ala. May 31-June 3. Auburn University will host the tournament.
