Jump toAuburnbox score FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Karla Crose paced the University of Arkansas to their second Southeastern Conference volleyball victory with a four-game win at Auburn Friday. The Lady Razorbacks improve to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the league with the 29-31, 30-17, 30-28, 30-22 win, while the Tigers fell to 7-4, 1-2 SEC. Conference action continues Sunday as the Lady’Backs travel to Alabama for a 1:30 p.m., match with the Tide. The contest will air live on KXUA, 88.3 FM and on LADYBACKS.COM. Crose finished the night with 12 kills, hit .381 and had seven blocks leading Arkansas to a 16-block night. Junior Denitza Koleva also added 12 kills while junior Kele Brewer tallied 1 and hit .214 for the Lady’Backs. “We struggled to finish in every game,” said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole, “but I’m glad the way we cam back in the second game and it’s a nice win. We fought hard the whole way. This league is not the same league and every match is a dog-fight.” Arkansas was flat in the opening game and trailed the entire frame until finally tying the score at 22-all. A sea-saw battle followed and Poole burned his final timeout with the game. The Lady’Backs worked their way to a 29-26 lead but the Tigers, rallied by a rowdy crowd, went on a 5-0 run winning 31-29 and stunning Arkansas. The Lady’Backs woke up after the loss and took control of the match winning the next three games. Auburn had several opportunities late but solid play from Arkansas and unforced Tiger errors were the difference. Arkansas hit just .176 in the game but held Auburn to a .119 mark. The Tigers were paced by senior Jennifer Amobi with 21 kills as three players were in double-digits. For more information about Arkansas volleyball log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
